    • My original Peak Season audiobook review and many others can be found at Audiobook Reviewer.Peak Season introduces Candace CW McCoy, an ex-cop, who gave up her job after she was forced to shoot a fellow policeman. She now lives with her grandfather “Pap” and is selling real estate in the tourist mecca of South Florida.Accused of stealing millions from his investors, Bobby Lee Darby was presumed dead until he appears in CW’s office demanding she prove his innocence. When CW declines, he kid [...]

    • Peak Season may be a mystery novel, but it is also a study in character building and exploring the unseen sides of public life.Setting is a key character here, and Widmer gives readers who visit Florida as tourists (or, even seasonal residents) a bit of a look "behind the curtain." One of Widmer's great strengths is his ability to see details and make connections not visible to a more casual observer, and in this book, that talent is on display. Widmer is a master of uncovering quirky and dark d [...]

    • CW is all set in her new life. She sells real estate now, after retiring from a life of law enforcement and is happy. Until one day her old life comes back to confront her and threatens everything her new life holds for her. A decent good guy-bad guy story. There are a lot of players in this one, and at times I got confused about who was who, but the pace was good and Widmer keeps you on your toes. Decent writing, with few grammar mistakes (but I'm picky) and a nice ending where everything gets [...]

    • Thank you to the author of this book for giving me a copy to read in return for an honest review.Peak Season is a crime drama in the point of view of CW, a former police officer who vowed never to be in the force or fraternising with guns again until she is dragged back into the game when her grandfather ‘pap’ is taken. This story was good, I found it a little slow to begin with because the scene setting was so descriptive, I could completely imagine where I was and what was going on. I quit [...]

    • Forced to shoot a fellow police officer, CW McCoy surrenders her gun, her badge and her confidence to take refuge in Southwest Florida. There, in the wealthy tourist mecca of Spanish Point, CW sells luxury real estate and cares for her ailing grandfather. But even in paradise, violence finds her like a divining rod.Declared dead by the courts, Bobby Lee Darby bursts into CW’s office to demand the family friend clear his name in a scheme to bilk millions from investors. When CW refuses, the fug [...]

    • The best element in this book--for me at least--was the strong sense of place. I haven't spent much time in Florida, but with all the references to driving/biking along the Tamiami Trail, I'll have some idea what to expect. Story is okay but characters feel derivative of Evanovhich's series with the tough heroine, multiple male (possibly romantic) characters, but with fewer hijinks. Narrator okay, but the range of accents seemed to be beyond her repertoire, and the voices were inconsistent. Love [...]

    • "This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of Audiobook Blast."I like a good mystery, with a bit of thriller tossed in, and C. W. McCoy delivers, as she chases after the bad guys. Not a bad listen when trapped inside by an ice storm. I would like to see where this author would take the character in another novel.
